Local Celebrity Reader: Wild by Cheryl Strayed

Beth O’Connor, Investment Advisor with RBC Dominion Securities, recently read Wild by Cheryl Strayed.  “Our book club, Coasters, just finished reading Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail and I loved it,” says O’Connor.  “It’s a true story based upon a young woman’s life falling apart upon her Mother’s death.  On a whim and with no experience, she begins a 1,100 mile hike starting in southern California and ending in Oregon.  Cheryl is an amazingly courageous woman who recounts an incredibly visual story – you really see through her eyes every painful step (her hiking boots are too small and back pack too heavy) that she takes and feel the sadness and happiness that she expresses perfectly.  What begins as a physically draining hike becomes a life altering journey of self-discovery.”

“Cheryl draws you in so well you feel you know her and find yourself wondering about her long after you’ve finished reading the book,” O’Conner adds.  “It’s no surprise that this book is on the #1 New York Times bestsellers or that Oprah chose it for her book club.”
