They Left Us Everything by Plum Johnson
After 20 years of caring for her elderly parents – first her senile father, than her cantankerous 93 year old mother – Plum Johnson and her three younger brothers experience the conflicted feelings of grief and relief when their mother, their sole surviving parent, dies. Now, they are left to clean out their family home, 23 rooms that haven’t been decluttered in half a century. But as they sift through antiques and oxygen tanks, they unearth memories and truths of their difficult but loving parents.
They Left Us Everything by Plum Johnson is a memoir about making sense of the past and nurturing family bonds, and is available to reserve at Haliburton County Public Library. It is also one of our Evergreen nominees for 2016. Read one or more of our Evergreen selections and vote for your favourite in October.
